Hammond Hill

Hammond Hill is a new and exciting project at the Hammond Golf and Country Club; it is Canada's Premier Eco-Experience and Wilderness Resort. Their vision is to be the premier eco-experience and wilderness retreat with sustainability embedded in everything they do and build.

In discovering that their target market was middle-income families and couples, the brand took on a playful, natural feel. The posts of the tiny-house line up with the three tree trunks and have a stronger stroke to acknowledge Hammond Hill’s dedication to sustainability and their 1:1 tree planting commitment. The font chosen is friendly, modern, and rustic with Brother 1816 Printed handwritten texture.

Hammond Hill needed a brand that set them apart from their competitors and created a lasting first impression for their clients.

Location Features

Initially featuring small cabins, yurts, and campsites nestled in 62 acres of mature woodlands, Hammond Hill is an environmentally sustainable retreat for families across the region. Built completely off-the-grid, all accommodations will be available for nightly rentals year-round. Hammond Hill also features:
  • Licensed Beer Garden
  • Children & Adult Games
  • Outdoor Patios & Fire Pits
  • Winter Camping & Snowmobile Tours
  • Trail access

Brand Strategy

After completing a brand audit, it was determined that Hammond Hill's brand attributes were friendly, adventurous, and progressive. I learned about their future plans and the many ways that they would be serving their clients. A mind-map and mood board were put together to begin the brainstorming process and to determine the visual direction that the brand would take.

Forest Green was chosen as the primary colour for Hammond Hill's brand. It exudes feelings of nature, new beginnings, tranquility, growth and health, all of which relate to in both big and small ways to the way that Hammond Hill operates and what it stands for. Once the brand was finalized, an identity manual was created to provide a guidebook for consistent application of the logo. All files were sent to the client and we were done!

This was just the beginning though! Since January, I have had the pleasure of assisting with other print and digital brand materials for Hammond Hill.

Entrance Signage

Together with Adele Pierce (the Lead Designer at Hammond Hill, also my mother), we designed the concept for this main entrance sign for Hammond Hill. My role in the project included research, sketching, and conceptual vector designs for this large-scale sign.

Hammond Hill was my first client when I began freelancing, and it’s been amazing to see the ways that the business and physical spaces have transformed since January 2021. It has been a pleasure to work with Hammond Hill on a variety of projects, including initial Interior Design material concepts. I hope to again in the future, and I am very grateful for the experience!
